European company for high-grade printable T-shirts operates under new name
Aachen, 3 July 2012. From now on Hanesbrands Europe GmbH, one of the leading companies in Europe for printable corporate clothing, operates under the new name Smartwares Printables GmbH. The British company Hanesbrands UK Ltd. will bear the name Smartwares Printables Ltd. The change of name follows in accordance with the recent acquisition by Smartwares Holding.
Both company names have been harmonised as a consequence of the recent acquisition of all shares by Dutch corporate group Smartwares Holding. As Thomas Schweigert, Managing Director of Smartwares Printables, emphasised on the occasion of the acquisition on May 29, the company transfer presented an excellent opportunity “to continue pursuing our successful strategy and generate further growth in sales revenue”.
For customers of the former Hanesbrands Europe GmbH and Hanesbrands UK Ltd. nothing changes with the new name. All existing contracts stay valid; all products and services will be available at the usual proven quality.

Smartwares acquires all shares in the well-known high-grade promotional textiles supplier
Aachen, 30 May 2012. Aachen-based Hanesbrands Europe GmbH, one of the leading companies in Europe for printable corporate clothing, together with its related company Hanesbrands UK Ltd, were taken over on 29 May 2012. The 100% subsidiaries of the US Hanesbrands Inc. corporate group have been sold to the Dutch consumer goods group Smartwares Holding. The new owner will continue to operate and expand Hanesbrands Europe GmbH and Hanesbrands UK Ltd, as an independent group. All staff members are to be retained and the company HQ will remain in Aachen, Germany.

Hanesbrands Inc. currently generates annual revenue of around $5 billion with textile brands such as Hanes, Champion, Playtex, Wonderbra and Donna Karan New York (DKNY). On 29 May 2012, the company which employs 55,000 people worldwide and is based in North Carolina, USA sold the subsidiaries Hanesbrands Europe and Hanesbrands UK to Smartwares Holding with all shares. The sale was based on the decision of the Americans to focus future efforts on the markets in America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.

Smartwares is a fast-growing corporate group for consumer products based in the Dutch town of Duiven. The group generates annual revenue of €350 million with operations in the four product segments of Consumer Care, Light & Safety, Decoration & Connectivity and Lifestyle. "Environmental awareness is no trend, but responsibility – we know that," says Hanes®. Environmental matters are currently ever-increasing in importance. People demand products made in an environmentally compatible way. With Tagless® organic, Hanes® created a collection that complies with this increasing environmental awareness.
Hanes® has lots of new things to offer in 2011: Women and men will find 2 new t-shirts, one with a crew neck, one with a v-neck, both made of 150 g/m² quality in the sizes of S-2XL (Women) or S-3XL (Men). For children, we are offering a 150 g/m² crew neck t-shirt in sizes XS-XL (5 to 13 years).
We are offering one polo shirt each of 180 g/m² combed ring-spun cotton piqué for men, women and children. All three models have cuffs at the sleeves, side slits and same-colour buttons. A grey contrast-coloured neck band completes the look.
The new collection also includes 280 g/m² hooded sweat jackets for men, women and children. These are particularly easy-care and can be washed at up to 60 degrees. They also have a grey contrast-coloured neck band. The waistband and cuffs are made of ribbed fabric. The zipper has the same colour as the jacket. The children's version has no tie-string in the hood for reasons of safety. For men, an additional sweatshirt is available in 280 g/m² quality.
All 14 models are made of certified organic cotton. Organically grown cotton is grown with methods and materials that are ecologically, economically and socially sustainable and have minimal impact on the environment. Organic farming forbids the use of toxic and hardly degradable chemical pesticides and fertilisers, as well as that of genetically engineered organisms. The organic cotton used by Hanes® is certified by OE (Organic Exchange, www.organicexchange.org).
The organic cotton used is also combed. Combing is an additional cotton processing method. Short cotton fibres are removed before the yarn is spun so that no short, brittle fibres will stand out and possibly prick the wearer. Therefore, combed cotton is particularly smooth and strong, making it ideal for textiles worn right on the skin. The smooth surface of combed cotton is also a very good basis for textile printing. Tagless® sports went on the market with 5 different models made of breathable polyester in early 2010. In 2011, 7 more models will be added. This collection is special because of its Cool-DRI® technology. It ensures that moisture is taken from the skin right to the outer materials surface. The fabric dries faster and is also repellent to dirt, needs no ironing and is antistatic. Sports clothing just cannot be any more comfortable than this!

The grey contrast-strips are a novelty and draw looks. For men, a crew neck and a polo shirt are available with contrast strips at the shoulders, for women a tank top and v-neck have contrast strips on the sides. This emphasises men's broad shoulders, while drawing attention to women's slim waists. The two women's versions are made of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. At 200 g/m², they have a slim fit while being opaque and offering freedom of movement due to the elastane. The perfect look!
Another novelty are the two hooded sweat jackets with raglan sleeves for men and women. Both are available in the same six colours: White, Black, Grey Steel, Navy, Red and Royal Blue. Again, Hanes® sticks with its sportive contrast look: the inside of the hood and the zipper are always grey.
